Red-footed tortoises spend over half of their day resting, sometimes resting days at a time after large meals.

  • Diet: Carrion, leaves, wood, bark or stems, fruit and flowers
  • Habitat: Rainforests, dry thorny forests, temperate forests and savanna areas
  • Range in the Wild: Caribbean islands, northern, western and central South America

Conservation Status
Listed as No Special Status. However, loss of habitat and over hunting are decreasing numbers among islands populations.
