Scientific Name: Chroicocephalus novaehollandiae

As many gull species do, the silver gull has a harsh, screaming call.

  • Size: Weight: 8 to 13 ounces; Length: 15 to 18 inches; Wingspan: Average 37 inches
  • Diet: Opportunistic diet including fish, marine and terrestrial invertebrates, seeds, insects and bird eggs
  • Habitat: Coastal and inland habitats, will even be found in garbage dumps
  • Range in the Wild: Australia, New Zealand and South Africa

Conservation Status

Listed as Least Concern. The silver gulls have a large range and a stable population size.
