As many gull species do, the silver gull has a harsh, screaming call.

- Diet: Opportunistic diet including fish, marine and terrestrial invertebrates, seeds, insects and bird eggs
- Habitat: Coastal and inland habitats, will even be found in garbage dumps
- Range in the Wild: Australia, New Zealand and South Africa
