Bring the Zoo to You

Let us bring the Zoo to you!  Sunset Zoo's Education Team has developed numerous in-person and virtual programming options to meet your needs and enhance your group's experience.

School-oriented Experiences

Sunset Zoo's virtual program opportunities geared for school groups promote the development of observation and critical thinking skills.  Education staff leading these virtual opportunities use various questioning strategies to evoke responses from student participants. These opportunities include:

Animal Ambassador Programs: These in-person programs allow school groups to experience wildlife, wildplaces, and Sunset Zoo without ever getting on a bus or leaving the classroom.  These programs last 30-45 minutes, and are designed around a specific, educational theme.

Zoom the Zoo - Virtual Zoo Tours: Using the Zoo map, groups can visit animals at Sunset Zoo through Zoom or a virtual platform that works best for your group. Students will learn about key aspects of each animal, then encouraged to make observations and ask questions. Programs last either 30 or 60-minutes, and are facilitated live.

Virtual Close Encounters: Dive deep into the adaptations of animals with a guided exploration of an ambassador animal from Sunset Zoo. Students will make observations of a live animal and related animal artifacts as they create their own understanding facilitated by Zoo education staff.

Family and Individual Registration-based Experiences

The virtual program opportunities below are geared for families and individual youth or teens.

Virtual Birthday Party: Connect with friends and Sunset Zoo animals virtually to celebrate a birthday!  The birthday child can pick 3 animals to meet up close, and add-on options can make the party even more memorable.  Birthday parties include a virtual invitation to send to your friends, and since the party is virtual you can invite friends and family from across the globe to join!

Business and Group-oriented Experiences
