The swift fox is the smallest of wild dogs in North America.

- Diet: Small mammals, insects, fish, birds, amphibians, reptiles and carrion
- Habitat: Short-grass and mixed-grass prairies in gently rolling or level terrain
- Range in the Wild: Great Plains of the United States and western Canada
Conservation Status
In the U.S. it is listed as Least Concern. In Canada, because of severe population decline, it is listed as Endangered.
