The name "Laughing Kookaburra" refers to the bird's laugh-like call, which it uses to establish territory amongst family groups.

  • Diet: Earthworms, snails, arthropods, frogs and small vertebrates
  • Habitat: Eucalyptus forests and woodland; also found in urban areas where nesting is easily available
  • Range in the Wild: Eastern and southeastern Australia; introduced to Tasmania
