A year of adventure begins with a Sunset Zoo birthday party. You bring the guests and the presents and let Sunset Zoo do the rest.

What's Included

Your host leads 24 party guests through a fun and educational animal-themed birthday party. Your party lasts 2 hours and includes:

• Animal Painting Experience - enrichment keeps Zoo animals active and healthy; birthday party guests will observe a Zoo resident paint a masterpiece, and each of your guest will get to take home a piece of the art. Animal choices (limit 1): African Ball Python, Virginia Opossum, Guinea Pig.
• Live Animal Encounter with one of the Zoo's educational animal ambassadors themed to connect with your Zoo tour.
• Mini Guided Zoo Tour - choose between the Africa Forest Trail, the Americas, Australian Walkabout, or Expedition Asia.
• Time to Open Presents - 15-20 minutes during the program to open presents brought by your guests.
• Cupcakes & Drinks - Sunset Zoo works with Hy-Vee to provide your party 24 delicious cupcakes with buttercream frosting.  You get to choose from all the flavors offered by Hy-Vee.  Flavor availability may change, but options typically include vanilla, chocolate, carrot, lemon, and strawberry.  You also get to choose between fruit punch and lemonade drink flavors.
• Party Supplies and Decor - up to 24 invitations and Zoo-themed decorations.

Cost

Party package for 24 guests (adults and/or children) costs $230 for non-members.  Friends of Sunset Zoo members receive a $25 discount. Additional guests are not allowed.

Availability & Reservations

Birthday parties are available year-round and based out of the Zoo's Nature Exploration Center (an indoor venue). Parties are scheduled from 10:00am - 12:00pm or 1:30pm - 3:30pm. Two week advance notice is required to schedule, dependent on availability. Advance payment is required to reserve a party date; this advance payment is a non-refundable deposit.
