Sunset Zoo is your year-round destination for nature-based learning adventures. Many of our offerings require registration at least one week prior to a class. Class size is limited and enrollment is on a "first come, first serve" basis.

Refund Policy for Classes Requiring Registration

A full refund is granted if cancellation is received one week (seven days) prior to class; partial refund with notification at least 48 hours before and no refund if notified less than 48 hours in advance. Adventure Camp | Grades K-6 | Offered During School Year


Sunset Zoo and the Flint Hills Discovery Center have joined forces to provide an unique and enhanced experience for youth during the school year when USD 383 is not in session. Adventurers learn about the plants, animals and geology from their own backyard to around the world. Two age-specific Adventure Camps are offered, one for grades K-2 and another for grades 3-6. The location of each camp alternates regularly between Sunset Zoo and the Flint Hills Discovery Center.

Full day (8am to 5pm) and half day (8am to Noon) sessions available. Cost is $25 per full day session and $15 per half day session; Friends of Sunset Zoo and Flint Hills Discovery Center members rate is $22/$13. Parents can drop off youth as early as 7:30am and pick them up as late as 5:30pm. Morning and afternoon snacks provided, youth need to bring a lunch. To participate, a current set of permission forms must be on file in the Zoo's office. Pre-registration required. Summer Camps | Ages 5-12 | Late May - Mid August

Sunset Zoo is your summer learning destination! Our summer camps lead youth on an exciting exploration of the outdoors and the animal world. Youth ages 5-12 can join us for this WILD adventure for one week or all summer long. Class sizes are limited, so make sure you reserve your spots early.

Zoofari Tails at Manhattan Public Library | All Ages


Slither into reading with the Sunset Zoo and the Manhattan Public Library. On the fourth Friday of every month at 10 am., Sunset Zoo will bring to life an animal-themed children's story. Each month is based on a different story and all storytimes include unique animal artifacts. Some storytimes feature a live animal and others may include a simple craft project.
