Zoo Classes and Camps

Nature-Based Learning
Sunset Zoo is your year-round destination for nature-based learning adventures. Our classes and camps provide attendees an up-close exploration of the natural world, featuring live animal encounters and guided Zoo tours. Trained staff bring to life a variety of educational topics from animal adaptations to wildlife conservation.

Early Childhood Programs

For the youngest community members, the Zoo offers a variety of early childhood programs including on-grounds classes and monthly story times at the Manhattan Public Library! Zoo Sprouts, a new nature-based childcare program, connects toddlers daily to the wonders of the outdoors.

School Age Youth

During the school year when USD 383 is not in session, Sunset Zoo and the Flint Hills Discovery Center have partnered together to offer Adventure Camps for area youth. Over the warmer months, the Zoo's Summer Camps are also a popular destination for elementary children.

Permission Forms

For youth to participate in Sunset Zoo's classes and camps, a completed permission form packet must be kept on file at the Zoo. Forms must be updated twice each year; once per school year and once per summer session. Click here to download forms.
